Welcome to Hotel Corps de Garde

Where Groningen begins

Hotel Corps de Garde is located in an authentic and historic building on Oude Boteringestraat. In the 17th century, it served as a guardhouse for soldiers and city guards, guarding the city. Carpenter Berent Geerts's design was realized for a whopping 5,780 florins.

In the 18th century, the gable was replaced by a cornice, which is still clearly visible today. The building was therefore poetically nicknamed "the army on columns" at the beginning of the last century, while locals referred to it as "Kortegaard." After a major renovation in 2021, the building was transformed into a boutique hotel where centuries-old elements blend with modern and colorful living.
