Hotel Corps de Garde is located in an authentic and historic building on Oude Boteringestraat. The structure served as a guardhouse for soldiers and city guards in the 17th century to protect the city. For a sum of 5780 florins, the design by carpenter Berent Geerts became a reality. In the 18th century, the stepped gable was replaced by a cornice, which is still clearly visible today. The building was poetically nicknamed 'the military on columns' in the early 20th century, while locals referred to it as 'Kortegaard'. After a major renovation in 2021, the building has been transformed into a boutique hotel where centuries-old elements blend with modern and colorful life.
